Current students, alumni, current and former staff members associated with the Chair of Tropical Forestry will contribute to the Panel Discussion entitled “Global Perspectives on Forests” on Thursday, October 1, 2020 starting at 6 PM in Dresden. The panel discussion servers as the opening of the annual Political Art Days Festival in Dresden, which in this year has its focus on Forests.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Gabriela Huidobro, current staff member and a member of the alumni initiative BluoVerda e.V.. Sherry Kyamagero, current MSc student will present about gender-related challenges in forest use and management in Uganda. Pragyan Raj Pokhrel, current MSc student and staff member at FAO Dryland Forestry Department, will contribute his experiences on community forestry in Nepal and beyond. An alumnus from the batch 2014-2016, Nicolas Mesia, who is currently working at FSC in Bonn will share his expertise in forest certification. Lastly, André Lindner, former staff member and current Head of School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Technische Universität Dresden, will add insights about the interface between natural resources and sustainable development.
The panel discussion will be followed by a three-course dinner by a catering collective that fights food waste. The panelists will sit on their own tables and guests can join to have a more in-depth discussion with the panelists.
The Political Art Days is a three-day art festival organized by CAMBIO e.V., a non-governmental organization that strives for education in sustainable development headquartered in Dresden. Furthermore, our other alumni, Lisa Becker and Vanessa Ospina, will also contribute to the festival by hosting a workshop.
