ASTAT: a two-day video conference on the project results in 2020

Workshop within the ASTAT project scheduled for December 2020 took place online due to the global pandemic. Project partners from Dresden, Tharandt, Kazan and Saint Petersburg met in a format of video conference on two days – December 09 and 11 –  and exchanged opinions on the current state of research and plans for 2021 under the current Corona conditions.

The colleagues in Kazan were represented by the Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Ravil Kuzyurov, First Deputy Minister of Forestry of the Republic of Tatarstan Dr. Ilgizar Zaripov, Head of the Department of Forest Reconstruction of and Cultivation Dipl. Forest Ing. Timur Galiev, Head of the Department of Property Management, Technical Development and Labour Protection Niyaz Imamiev, Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Microbiological-Vegetative Reproduction of Plants IN-VITRO Dipl. Forest Ing. Nail Khanov, Director of the Branch FBU (Federally Funded Institution) VNIILM ‘East European Forestry Experimental Station (VELOS)’ Dr. Fedor Ilyin, as well as Deputy Director VELOS Dr. Nais Garipov and Director of the State Educational Institution “Forest Engineering University Lubyansk” Rim Fakhraziev.

Prof. Dr. Jürgen Pretzsch, Prof. Dr. Albrecht Bemmann, Prof. Dr. habil. Sven Wagner, Prof. Steffen Fischer, Prof. Dr. Norbert Weber, Dr. rer. nat. Eckhard Auch, Dr. rer. silv. Wolfram Scheiding, Dr. rer. silv. Anna Moosmann, PhD students MSc. Agriculture Alina Nasibullina and MSc. Kirill Semenkin participated in the video conference from the german side. Professor V.N. Petrov took part at the discussion from Saint Petersburg State Forestry University.

The research results of the forest, wood and cluster sectors as well as further joint steps for 2021 were discussed during the two-day video conference. The project partners decided to publish the first research results in a joint scientific paper in English and Russian language. Furthermore, the project partners decided to participate in the International Forest Forum in St. Petersburg next year and to present the project at the conference. 

The next working meeting within the ASTAT project is planned for spring/summer 2021.
