NEXtra Kick-off

Preeyaphat and Lwin, we are doctoral researchers from the Insititute of International Forestry and Forest Products. We are also doctoral researchers in the first court of the NEXtra programme. The United Nations University-FLORES, Technische Universität Dresden, and Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) have formed a remarkable partnership known as NExtra, the resource Nexus for sustainable transformation, with the generous support of the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD-EPOS (ST42). Our NEXtra kick-off event was formally announced on June 21st, 2023.

In this collaboration launch event,  Prof. Dr. Tshilidzi Marwala (Rector, UNU & Under-Secretary-General, UN), Prof. Dr. Angela Rösen-Wolff (Vice-Rector for Research, TU Dresden), Dr. Andreas Handschuh ( the Saxon Ministry of Science, Culture and Tourism State Secretary), Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Guenther (Director, UNU-FLORES), Prof. Dr. Jochen Schanze (Head of Knowledge Integration Hub, Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development) and Prof. Dr. Ronald Tetzlaff (Chief Officer Technology Transfer and Internationalization, TU Dresden) attended and gave a warm welcome speech and closing remark. Moreover, Professors, doctoral researchers from TU Dresden, UNU-FLORES and IOER, donors, and other distinguished guests also attended.

Especially, Prof. Dr. Lukas Giessen attended and expressed his encouragement to us during our event.  During the event, we presented the proposed research on “Mangrove Restoration Solutions based on Ecosystem Services and Community Interaction in Thailand and Myanmar.” This research will conduct an actor-center analysis of mangrove management systems for sustainable mangrove management in both regions.
